Don’t you just hate it when you’re killing it on the dance floor at your friend’s wedding and a crappy love song comes on cramping your style?  If we hear “I Honestly Love You” at another wedding, well, we might just lose our cake.  It’s Wedding Wednesday here at the ballroom and we are giving you twelve love songs with the perfect amount of lovey-doveyness that’ll keep your guests dancing while keeping in-tune with the romantic journey you’re about to embark on.

You should honor your love with songs that differ from the overplayed and clichéd.  Trust us, there is no “cha cha sliding” involved with these love songs you’ve probably never heard of.

1. Stolen Dance –Milky Chance

This German folktronica duo’s 2014 hit will have your guests dancing like “never before.”

Favorite Lyric: “I want you by my side
So that I never feel alone again”

2. Wild Horses –The Sundays

Youtube is filled with covers of this classic song, originally performed by the Rolling Stones, but The Sundays version is undoubtedly the best and manages to shockingly take the song to an even more romantic level.

Favorite lyric: “No sweeping exit or offstage lines, Could make me feel bitter or treat you unkind, Wild horses couldn’t drag me away.”

3. “Can’t Do Without You” –Caribou

The first track from their album ‘Our Love’ is a shimmering song perfect for the hippie wedding.

Favorite Lyric:  “I couldn’t do without you.”  Yup, there are limited lyrics in this psychedelic jam. Short, sweet, and to the point.

4. “Bound 2″ –Kanye West

I know, I know.  The infamous bad boy isn’t known for his heart-felt love lyrics, but Bound 2 lacks the cliche lyrics so many love songs possess and touches on how people in our generation fall in love With lyrics like “Okay, I don’t remember when we first met,” it’s hard not to relate.

Favorite Lyrics: “Close your eyes and let the world paint a thousand pictures, one good girl is worth a thousand bitches.”

5. “Settle Down” –1975

This pop hit is off 1975’s self titled album out this year.  You may not have heard of him yet, but you won’t be able to stop listening to him. This song just makes you want to dance like it’s…1975.

Favorite Lyric: “What a familiar face, Do you get what I mean now? I’m so fixated on the girl with the soft sound, And hair all over the place”

6. “You Da One” –Rihanna

The bad girl goes lovesick with this island-sounding love song. And she looks flawless in the video, per usual.

Favorite lyric: “You are the one so I make sure I behave.  My love is your love.  Your love is mine.”

7. “The Girl”–City And Colour

The lyrics to Dallas Green’s “The Girl,” are truly touching. Oh, and his voice is pretty swoony, too.

Favorite lyric: “And when you cry a piece of my heart dies, Knowing that I may have been the cause, If you were to leave and fulfill someone else’s dreams, I think I might totally be lost”

8. “She is Love” –Parachute

Parachute is an American band from Charlottesville, Virginia that pairs pop and rock flawlessly with this love hit.

Favorite Lyric: “And I lost my faith, in my darkest days.  She makes me want to believe.”

9. “Tenerife Sea” –Ed Sheeran

Ed Sheeran emerged onto the music scene from a redheaded dork playing for quarters to a British red-furred fox. “Tenerife Sea” is another melodic and lyrical song from the talented writer.  Here’s him playing it live on the radio for the first time.  Ed, aweeeee.

Favorite Lyric: “Should this be the last thing I see, I want you to know it’s enough for me. For all that you are, is all that I’ll ever need. So in love.”

10. “Love Me Like You Do”–Ellie Goulding

From the Fifty Shades of Grey soundtrack comes this emotive and powerful vocal performance from Ellie. Ellie is such an amazing and strong woman. We would do some S&M things with her.

Favorite Lyric: “You’re the only thing I want to touch, Never knew that it could mean so much, so much. You’re the fear, I don’t care, because I’ve never been so high.”

11. “Promises” –Wiz Khalifa

Wiz shows his softer side with this passionate ballad.  The lyrics and melody are both catchy and sentimental.

Favorite lyric: “It’s like we’re the only ones, and I already feel it now, it’s like you’re the only one, only one that knows just how, how to make the time stand still, we’re caught in the moment. So don’t let me down. You made those promises, don’t take them back now. Don’t let me down. Do all the things you said that had me going. Let’s get caught in the moment.”

12. “Kiss Me” –Ed Sheeran

(Ed Sheeran killing the love song game this week).
